Explain how mitosis leads to two daughter cells?

During interphase, the first step in the process of mitosis, the chromosomes undergo synthesis and make an identical copy of themselves. These copies are fused together by the centromere and are called sister chromatids. During mitosis, the centromere is also replicated. Immediately after this occurs, the two copies split. Then, the cell splits into two daughter cells. Each cell now has an identical copy of the original cell’s chromosomes.
